Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, Treaty 6 – The Community Development department at the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation is investing $333,251.00 at the Willow Cree Memorial Sports Centre.

“We are excited to continue the important work of building our community and investing in our community’s infrastructure” explains Councillor Nicole Gamble who is responsible for Community Development. “The investment will ensure that visitors to the Arena will get an enhanced experience and the very best of our community’s hospitality!”

“We continue to make targeted investments in our community – investments that will have a long-term impact for the needs of our community members, and visitors alike. Our Arena welcomes thousands of visitors every year, and we want to ensure that those visitors experience the best of our community, so we’re very proud of this project” says Kevin Seesequasis, Community Development Officer for the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation. “New paint, updated dressing rooms, new ventilation and heating systems, updated bathrooms and fixtures – we’re excited to give the Arena some much needed and long overdue TLC.”

Funding for the Arena Renovations project is from the Community Development Wrap-Around Initiative, a multi-year funding initiative of the Government of Canada.

“Community Development responds to the needs of our community expressed through the vision and direction contained in our Community’s Development Plan” concluded Councillor Gamble. “Our youth will benefit from these upgrades now, and into the future!”
