Job Summary

The Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation is seeking a highly motivated and capable individual to fill the Full-Time, 2 year term position of Community Development Assistant (CDA).

Reporting to the Community & Tourism Development Officer (CTDO), the CDA is responsible to:

  1. Assist in updating the Community Development Plan (CDP) of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation;
  2. Assist in conducting Community Engagement sessions including preparing surveys and questionnaires;
  3. Analyze collected data and summarize;
  4. Updating the existing BOCN CDP;
  5. Support the CTDO in identifying new funding sources to support CDP priorities and initiatives;
  6. Support the CTDO in fund identification/generation;
  7. Support the CTDO in departmental engagement and needs assessments;
  8. Support the CTDO in grant proposal writing; and
  9. Support the CTDO in quarterly, mid-term, and year-end reporting.

The incumbent will have demonstrated experience in community engagement, grant/proposal writing, and project reporting.


Preference will be given to those individuals possessing:

  1. A university degree or post-secondary education in a related field (a combination of education and work experience will be considered);
  2. Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft Office;
  3. Superior oral and written communication skills;
  4. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
  5. Demonstrated grant/proposal writing and reporting skills;
  6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; and
  7. Class 5 Drivers License.

Working Conditions

The incumbent will work Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm at the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation Band Office.

Some evening and weekend work may be required. Overtime pay is not authorized.
