BOCN Veterans Week 2021

Through Band Council Resolution #2021-2022-014, the Council of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation have declared November 8th to the 11th as Veterans Week to honour all simâkanisihkânak of our community.

Our events will focus on honouring our simâkanisihkânak – the honoured warriors of the BOCN who have given so much, and some who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Here is a listing with complete itineraries for our Veterans Week activities:

1. Monday, November 8, 2021 – National Indigenous Veterans Day
   1. What: Flag Lowering & Fly-Past
      1. Where: Saskatchewan Indian Veterans Association Monument (the Monument)
      1. Time: 10:30am
      1. Itinerary:
         1. 10:30am – Opening Prayer
         1. 10:35am – Why we honour Indigenous Veterans
         1. 10:40am – Wreath Laying & Honour Song
         1. 10:45am – Lowering of Flags & Flag Song
         1. 10:50am – Councillor Neubuhr Address, Grand Chief Ross Address
         1. 11:00am – Veterans Salute with CF-18 Fly Past & Victory Song
            
            
   2. What: Veterans Fundraising Dinner
      1. Where: Delivery or Pick-up at Veterans Hall
      1. Time: 5:30pm – 6:00pm
      1. Details:
         1. Roast Elk / Elk Meatloaf Dinner with Mashed Potatoes, Vegetables, Gravy, Dessert, Bannock & Drink – $20/plate  |  Cash Only.

      1. Where: Veterans Hall
      1. Time: 8:30am

  • Details: Attendees must provide proof of vaccination; masks will be mandatory. Security will be on-site to assist with verification of vaccination status.
