COVID-19 really sucks!
But winter rocks and so does skiing!
Over the past 2 weeks, the Community Development department has been working to develop x2 1km cross-country recreational ski trails at the BOCN – 1 trail near CBMES, and 1 trail at the Powwow grounds. We have also purchased x10 child and x10 adult skis, boots, and poles for use by community members.
For a small fee – $5 for children, and $10 for adults – community members can rent the skis in 1.5hr increments beginning Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm – 7:30pm, and 7:30pm – 9:00pm; and Sundays from 1:00pm – 2:30pm, 2:30pm – 4:00pm, 4:00pm – 5:30pm, and 5:30pm – 7:00pm (all dates/times subject to change). Rental fees will be used to offset the costs of trail grooming, and to purchase additional skiing equipment. Lessons will be available soon too!
We know that COVID-19 is forcing us to adjust to a very new normal, and this is one way our community is adapting to that change. We will still respect COVID-19 regulations, we will still require social distancing, our equipment will be thoroughly sanitized prior to distribution – but we will be active, and we will still do our best to have fun… outdoors!
You will be able to reserve your skiing equipment using an online system very soon. Payment will be taken on-site, receipts will be provided, and each participant will be required to sign a rental agreement and a release of liability form. Youth under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult and ONLY an adult/guardian will be able to sign the rental agreement and liability forms for youth.
