EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TEAM STATEMENT: COVID-19/ROSTHERN HOSPITAL
Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, Treaty 6 – The following statement was released by the Emergency Management Team:
“Our Emergency Management Team is aware of recent social media posts suggesting a doctor at Rosthern Hospital has tested positive for COVID-19.
We have been in contact with the doctor in question and hospital administrators. At this point, and with his expressed permission, we can confirm that Dr. Melle has tested positive for COVID-19.
If you have had any direct contact with Dr. Melle; or have been to the Rosthern Hospital/Clinic on or after Monday, March 16, 2020, we are advising that you immediately self-isolate for 14 days, begin to self-monitor, and contact 811.
At this point, there are no further confirmed or presumptive cases in our communities. Our EMT will continue to closely monitor the situation.
We extend our sincere best wishes to Dr. Melle and his family for a speedy, and full recovery.“
