JOINT STATEMENT FROM COUNCIL AND THE CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER: 2020 BOCN ELECTION

Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, Treaty 6 – The following statement was released today by Council and the Chief Electoral Officer of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation regarding the 2020 Election:

The 2020 Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation Nominations and General Election – at this time – will proceed as scheduled but with significant precautionary measures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all participating community members.

Please note that the plan outlined below is also dependent on any new restrictions or precautionary measures mandated by the Province of Saskatchewan and/or the City of Saskatoon.

The following precautionary measures as outlined by the Chief Electoral Officer will be adhered to for the Nomination Meeting and Election:

Many community members have expressed their concerns with respect to the Nomination Meeting and Election. At this time, we are confident that the measures outlined above will enable us to proceed with our Nation’s election with relative safety.
