The Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation is looking for an enthusiastic individual who has a positive attitude and is self motivated for the 1 year term position of full time Payroll Officer. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

Education: Successful completion of an administration course from a recognized institution or a combination of relevant education, training and/or experience. A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is an asset.

Experience: Previous experience in a finance department working with employee payroll.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.  Working knowledge of AccPAcc.

Skills and Abilities:  Consistently motivated to perform work and assignments with attention to detail. Excellent verbal and communication skills. Able to provide prompt, efficient and courteous service.  Must be reliable. Excellent organizational skills. Must maintain confidentiality.

Main Duties: Reporting to the Financial Officer and CEO, the Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate processing of payroll for the employees of the Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation. Gathering, correcting, reviewing and processing payroll data. Working closely with the Financial Officer to keep timely, accurate and up to date records of all pay information required to start employees on payroll; Preparing and reconciling all deductions (such as Income Tax, CPP, EI, Pensions, Group Life, Authorized Payroll deductions), assigning them to the appropriate payee and preparing summary; Reviewing, calculating, completing and processing special pay, adjustments, deductions, and final pay cheques and producing Records of Employment within the prescribed timelines as required by relevant legislation; Calculating and recording manual cheques; Setting up and maintaining files for all employees, making sure all pertinent information is filed on a timely basis; PreparingT4 summary information as directed by the Finance Officer; Other related duties as assigned.
