Re: Changes to NCBR – now Social Assistance Employment & Training (SAET)
Dear Membership,
I am writing to inform you off recent changes to the National Childhood Reinvestment Plan (NCBR) now known as the Social Assistance Employment & Training (SAET) program. In past
years the Nation had the ability to provide ftrnding to areas such as daycare, children camps, pow-wow, employment assistance and short-term training. These dollars were allowed to be
spent as the Nation saw fit, but with a focus on providing support to all low-income earners.
We are now faced with some major changes that will have impacts on service delivery, and they are as follows:
- Our target audience is now Income A.’&stcri,ce clients only, and
- The program is now focused on employment and training only.
With that said, your new case manager for Employment & Training will be Jade Penner. Jade will be working alongside Lorraine and Carmel to help Income Assistance clients with their
Employment & Training plans and goals.
One important thing to remember with the above changes, is that Jade cannot issue employment assistance to general membership anymore. Should you require employment assistance and are
not on Income Assistance, please see Deidre Ballentyne, ASETS Coordinator at the Education Building. Please bear with us as we adapt to these new changes.
Should you have questions about any of the above, please contact me at your earliest convenience at the band office.
Sincerely,
