Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, Treaty 6 – On Wednesday, December 13th, 2017, residents of the Town of Duck Lake will head to the polls in a municipal by-election to elect two town council members.
Candidates seeking election for Town Council are:

We are encouraged that a member of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation is seeking election in the upcoming by-election.
“As a home-owner, an employee of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, and an active community member in both the BOCN and the Town of Duck Lake, Jade has shown her commitment for the betterment of our shared goals of building a healthier, and more vibrant community” said Roy Petit, Chief of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation. “I join my colleagues on Council in wholeheartedly supporting her candidacy.”
A growing number of residents of the town of Duck Lake are members of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation and their issues deserve knowledgeable, and compassionate representation. To that end, our Council strongly encourages all members of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation residing in the Town of Duck Lake to vote in Wednesday’s by-election.
Our two communities are historically intertwined, and we value the relationships that have been built between our two communities – relationships that extend beyond Treaty 6, and even the confederation of Canada.
We wish all candidates the very best in Wednesday’s by-election and look forward to continuing the excellent relationship we have between our two communities.
