MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST

CHIEF BEARDY MEMORIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
and
CST. ROBIN CAMERON EDUCATION COMPLEX – HIGH SCHOOL
Job Summary:
The full-time Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing counselling and mental health services to the students (K-12) at the elementary and high school of Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation. The services provided will include assessments, counselling, referrals for treatment, treatment planning including aftercare and crisis management as needed. They will support community programs that educate and create awareness for families. In addition, the Mental Health Therapist will teach the Mental Health and Addictions 10 curriculum. He/she will work closely with the Guidance Counsellor at the schools. He/she will collaborate with the MH Team to ensure the mental health needs of the students are fully met.
Qualifications:
Education
- Degree in Human Services and may include social work, psychology or related field
Experience
- One to three years experience in the area of mental health and addictions
- Knowledge of psychiatric services
- Previous experience working on a First Nation community
- Knowledge of the Cree culture an asset
- Computer knowledge and software applications
General Requirements
- Good work attendance
- Valid driver’s licence
- Maintain strict confidentiality
Special Conditions
- Criminal Record and Vulnerable Security Clearance
- Advanced First Aid Certification
