COUNCIL TO PROCEED WITH FAIR, OPEN, TRANSPARENT PROCESS FOR BOCN BOARDS/COMMITTEES
Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, Treaty 6 – The Council of the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation released the following statement today on the call for a fair, open, and transparent process to select Boards and Committees:
“Our Council believes that boards and committees contribute to the health, and good governance of our Nation. It is in that spirit today, that we are calling an Annual General Meeting (AGM), and an open Call-Out for select boards and committees. This new direction will employ a fair, open, and transparent process that will see all members of the Nation eligible to participate in the nomination, and selection processes for boards and committees.
Our new direction works to de-politicize boards and committees to enable greater access to – and transparency for our membership – in the governance processes of our Nation.
It is our hope that all eligible members will put forth their name and work with us toward the good governance of our Nation’s affairs. Please see the AGM Notice, and the Board Call-Out for additional details.”
